AN-74TK-300
An-74TK-300, a new generation cargo/passenger aircraft, was built by
Kharkov State Aircraft Manufacturing Company, ASTC Antonov, Motor Sich
company (Zaporozhye), Progress (Zaporozhye), and InterAMI Corporation
(Kharkov) in 2001. Though AN-74TK-300 was initially conceived as an
updated version of AN-74, this modification has become a virtually new
highly efficient Antonov airplane with the improved aerodynamic
characteristics and modern comfortable passenger cabin.
The most distinctive feature of An-74TK-300 is installation of double-flow turbojet engines under the wings
on aircraft pylons. This new configuration helped to significantly
increase the cruising speed, flight range and economic efficiency of the
aircraft.
The first flight of An-74TK-300 took place on April 20, 2001, and was
witnessed by the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, member of the
Ukrainian government and several thousands of spectators. In June 2001,
after a series of brief but very intensive tests conducted at ASTC
Antonov premises, An-74TK-300 made its international debut. The
aircraft was presented at the 44th Paris International Airspace Salon in
Le Bourget. The daily review of Le Bourget-2001 mentioned the high
level of comfort of An-74TK-300, which exceeded the existing
international standards for regional airliners at that time. This was
very much so because An-74TK-300 designers aspired to satisfy the
growing demands of passengers and aircraft operators to aircraft safety
and comfort which until recently was provided only at transcontinental
airliners.
AN-74TK-300 is equipped with modern radio, communication, piloting and
navigating systems in conformity with ICAO 2015 regulations, which
enable it to fly during day and night under any weather conditions.
Apart from the basic passenger modification, the aircraft also has
ambulance and VIP modifications. Aircraft certification is based on the
existing airworthiness standards of AP-25 category and international
noise-regulating convention for civil aviation AP-36. An-74TK-300 has
type certification of ARMAK #CT208-An-74TK-300 and type certificated
#TL-0025 issued by Ukraviatrans. An-74TK-300 meets world requirements
to aircraft avionics and low noise and emission level.
For the moment An-74TK-300 is the only modern jet airplane developed in
the CIS and certified to AP-25 rules. Soon aircraft avionics and
equipment will be replaced with digital equipment, thus making the work
of pilots much easier. An-74TK-300 can be efficiently operated at local
and middle range routes.
Designers have developed several new modifications of An-74TK-300.
Among them are An-74TK-300P - the passenger aircraft for transporting 70
passengers, and An-74TK-300UT - a cargo aircraft with the payload
increased by 2 tons as compared to the basic model of AN-74TK-300.
